Caamora - House Concert - 14th October

Published on by robhenderson

Sometimes I travel some distance to concerts – so far this year I've been to the Netherlands, Wales, Yorkshire and Lydney (or “nearly-Wales” as it was once described by a friend). However, this evening the event was somewhat closer.

Having spent Thursday evening clearing all of the furniture out of the living room, I spent most of Friday waiting. The band started arriving from 5:30 onwards – the band consisting of Clive Nolan (keyboards and vocals), Mark Westword (guitar), Agnieszka Swita (vocals), David Clifford (vocals), Soheila Clifford (vocals) & Christina Booth (vocals). All of these people performed in the Caamora show in Zoetermeer that I went to a few weeks ago.

Having set up the keyboard and put the guitar on its stand, and positioned speakers in the appropriate places, we were able to wait for the audience, who were almost all friends from The Peel or the office. Plus one of two new friends who I'd not knowingly met before.

And around 8:00 we were off. There were a mix of songs from Strangers on a Train, Arena as well as Caamora. Some songs were done completely live with the backing provided by Clive & Mark; others using a backing track. And there were many variations of vocalists (all of this is done from memory) – for Agnieszka singing “Covenant of Faith” and “Vigil”, Agnieszka & Christina singing “Confrontation”, David & Agnieszka singing “Vigil”, and Christina singing “Closer” (my personal favourite). There were other songs, including a new one sung by Soheila (watch out for this young lady – she could be a star of tomorrow.  Her single "Boudicca" is available now).

In between this, Clive gave a running commentary on how the show came together, with plenty of anecdotes of various trips to South America. Then there was the preview of the new show “Amelia” where we got to hear a demo of one of the sings from show. It was very different from anything that we've heard from Clive Nolan before – like a lost song from Oliver or something.

The evening ended with a question & answer session and then a duet (Clive & Agnieszka) of Hallejah.

After the event, I spoke to many of my friends who all told me how much they enjoyed it. Every one seemed to have a different story to tell. Many thanks to Clive for organising it, plus Mark and the singers – Agnieszka, Tina, David & Soheila.
